An easy, enjoyable read. I cannot wait to see what hidings Mao Mao and Jinshi get up to. Even though it is light, it still touches on how dangerous the inner court and harems in the palace could be, and just how much the lives of the women in the inner court depended on the graces of the emperor (he could just decide to *gift* you to some general one day, if he got tired of you). I hope the next book in the volume maintains the same pacing.
