I love to start the New Year with finishing a fantastic book! N.K. Jemisin’s writing of The Fifth Season is pure genius! I love how it all came together. There was some quotes in the book that stuck with me. I’m only going to quote one in this review. “This is why she hates Alabaster: not because he is more powerful, not even because he is crazy, but because he refuses to allow her any of the polite fictions and unspoken truths that have kept her comfortable, and safe, for years.” A lot of people have a hard time living outside of their bubble and dealing with reality/ hard truths. I can definitely see why this fantastic book won a Hugo award. I can’t wait to read the second book in this series!
