To Shape a Dragon's Breath by Moniquill Blackgoose

4.75

Now that I think about it this is a bit cozy. Not a whole lot of action happens and yet it does seem like a lot goes on. I mean the book is 500 pages lol. I loved a lot about this.

The Native American rep, LGBTQIA+ rep, the queernormativity, the dragons, the female rage were all amazing!!! I love how our mc, Anequs, had two love interests and instead of picking one, she perused both like it was the most natural thing in the world. It was such a breathe of fresh air.

I would say those who liked Babel would like this. It’s very similar in the way it’s worded. I loved Babel and definitely got some of the same vibes from this. Highly recommend this book alone for the colonialism discussed, the dragons and diverse characters. Read for a more slow-paced, Fourth Wing-esque novel from a refreshing new voice.
