I wanted to read (really, listen to it as an audiobook) this after I read the “An Ember in the Ashes” series from Sabaa Tahir because I enjoyed her writing style. I didn't expect to be so entirely taken in by this novel! Wow! The characters are so vibrant, their trials and triumphs so vividly portrayed. I screamed at the characters, cried along with them, and absorbed them into myself for the few days it took me to devour the book. It's not a light read though - really heavy topics within.
