Gerald May touches the heart. He simplifies things, because he can express things in terms of our own experience. Most of the book is the same book as the first edition, but 17 years after that publication, he wrote 2 more chapters. He has a lot of experience as a psychiatrist, but more than that, he has deep experience as a human being and he is genuine in his writing. Try any of his books and see. I found this one late, but it actually would be a good one to start with. I can't think of any writer who speaks more clearly of what is really important than Gerald May. Others are as deep, but none more clear and practical to my thinking.
