Rise of Empire by Michael J. Sullivan

5.0

Rise of Empire finally has that emotional weight that Theft of Swords was missing. Not only are all of the stakes higher, but the plot is also deeper, the setting expanded, and the character interactions deeper and more meaningful.

Michael J. Sullivan has a brilliant way of introducing new characters that are equally intriguing and engaging. You quickly fall in love with their stories and cheer for them.

If the rest of Riyira is this good, then everything will be just fine

Nyphron Rising marks the Halfway point through Riyira, and I can already tell that this will become a regular re-read. It may not end up being my favorite series of all time, but I fully expect to not only read Riyira Revelations, but also all of the other entries into this magical world of Michael J Sullivan.

Anyways, Nyphron Rising is better in every way than both Crown Conspiracy and Avempartha, with higher stakes, better paced plot, and finally some character development/backstory for the main Duo.

The Emerald Storm is finally what I was hoping the Riyira Revelations to be. The first novels were fun, and enjoyable to read, but this when things got interesting.

The book starts out with a bang, and doesn't let up from there. With higher stakes then every, actually engaging intrigue, and putting the heroes in new positions keeping then off balance, The Emerald Storm is excellent.

It's not just Royce and Hadrian that have engaging story line either, Arista's plight and Amelia's courtlife are also both so engaging.

A great time
