Many of the stories in this collection were genuinely creepy and unsettling, and also thought-provoking in their exploration of various themes. Enriquez’s writing, as always, is both evocative and precise. While a few stories felt underdeveloped—I found myself wanting a bit more from them—that’s often the case with short story collections. My favorite stories were A Local Artist and My Sad Dead and Black Eyes.
