I was really hoping this sequel would actually improve upon and go deeper into Rita's character, but alas, it skimped on just about everything having to do with Rita. I really did not feel connected to her at all in this book. The author chose to write a dual POV book where chapters alternated between Rita and a serial killer. You would think that would make the story more interesting, but all it really did was make us spend most of our time in the mind of a rather boring, one-note murderer. I wanted way less of him and way more of Rita, Rita's Grandma, and the medicine man Mr. Bitsilly. I think this was a case of going in with high expectations and ultimately being quite disappointed. It's still a perfectly fine sequel, and some may love it, but it fell flat for me.
