S**T HIT THE FAN.

I was bawling at the end of this. It was just...wow. That ending just moved like in slow-mo where suddenly it's like you're there but not really there, and you're watching this and everything that could possibly happen now is flashing before your eyes and you just know this moment will unravel everything that was being built. Devastation and horror written all over your face.

“Sometimes people need to be messed up. It reminds them life is short."

*breathe* I guess when you fall for the first book as hard as I did, everything just seems bigger and you're so into every single thing that happens that you just get the feels and you cry and laugh and hope and fall every single time.

“Dying before you pay someone back is just plain rude.”

With the ending of the last book, Lovely Vicious (endings are crazy in this series so far), we see that Isis Blake has
Spoiler memory loss after an incident/attack with her mother's ex-boyfriend
who shows up at their house.
Staying in hospital, she meets Sophia,
Spoiler who's Jack's girlfriend.
But Isis is unknown to this and they become good friends. Sophia a permanent resident at the hospital because of her condition.

Jack Hunter is heartbroken that Isis doesn't
Spoilerremember him after all that happened.
We find out more about the details of what really happened going back to that night everything changed for him and their friends. Even though Jack is falling for Isis, he feels guilt in what it may mean for Sophia. After that night, he's doing everything he can for her, but he can't ignore his feelings for Isis, the only girl who's ever really gotten through to him.

Sophia is quite a character in this book. She interacts with both the characters of Isis and Jack. She's quite hard to read sometimes as we see her turn her her back on Isis and try and keep Jack all to herself. Overall she has quite an effect on the story and the characters.

We see Isis getting her
Spoilermemory back as she remembers more
about Jack and the puzzle in which he's tied to. With Sophia around, more evidence is revealed while also being deceived. However, as Isis digs around in the past of Jack Hunter, she finds her own past is not so buried either.....

This sequel did not disappoint.

“The sadness will last forever. And I think he was right, but I also think he was very, very wrong. It doesn’t last forever. Because we don’t last forever.”

Again, the plot had me completely engrossed. So many feels and s**t happening. More clues are discovered as to what secrets Jack and their friends are harboring and Isis and Jack still don't get a chance to really come together at all. AND HOLY CRAP THAT ENDING. Just, another roller coaster, another event that just stops everything that was happening and pushes everything into the next hell.

Mhm. NEXT BOOK NOW.
