Oralia hasn’t felt the touch of another person in over 200 years. When her power grows out of control, she flees the palace finding herself as the prisoner of the man she’s been taught to fear. Renwick is surprised to find out there’s more to Oralia than what he’s been lead to believe. Renwick cannot deny the pull between the two of them and Oralia struggles to deny the one person that can touch her and also craves her. Oralia, along the way, learns about her parents and the lies that have been spewed by the other kingdom. Will these two bond together for good or will Oralia run again back to what is safe?

This book - I couldn’t put it down. The work building was fantastic and I was instantly pulled in from the very first page. Gillian focuses both on Renwick and Oralia’s individual development then brings the two together on their joint development. With short chapters, the book bounces back and forth between Renwick and Oralia’s POVs. The supporting cast is brilliant and I fell in love with them, just as much as Renwick and Oralia. This is a great debut from Gillian and I’m excited for the next book in this duology.
