And Maybe They Fall In Love by Emma Hill

4.0

What an amazing debut from author Emma Hill! I went into this thinking it was mainly a contemporary romance, but I loved the incorporation of the magical element of Readers. Readers are people who can read the thoughts of those around them, and are a new discovery among the world’s population. It’s so interesting how they are treated with wariness and negativity, yet companies still see them as a useful tool to monitor their employees. Elle is a reader who doesn’t quite fit in anywhere, and deals with serious mental health battles while trying to support her younger sister and a mother who doesn’t have her act together. Christopher is such a cinnamon roll MMC and honestly is the sweetest, most understanding person. Together they have an innocent, tentative friendship that starts to blossom as they get to know each other more.

I didn’t realize this was book 1 in a series, so I can’t wait to see what happens next! I do really hope that Elle gets help for her Afterthoughts… those parts made me just want to give her a hug! Christopher is so innocent and cute and I just thought his character was really likeable. There are a lot of elements with both Elle and Christopher’s families that I think will be really interesting in future books.

Great debut novel and can’t wait to see where the next book goes!
