This book fairly quickly reeled me in because it became apparent very early on that the case featured in it directly ties into the series overarching Mystery.

The case itself is also fairly gripping mainly because there were a lot of different factions in play and it was quite enjoyable to read how all of them constantly messed up each other's plans.

On the side of characters our MC Peter received a new partner to work with on this case and it was nice that the introduction of the muslim woman Sahra Guleed added even more diversity to an already very diverse series. But I must say that most of this character's moments came from all the interactions and reactions about the “weird bollocks” that Peter and Nightingale are faced with and as a result it felt like she didn’t really came into her own that much.

The ending left me pretty disappointed. It was kind of set up as a cool climax between the big players of this series and I expected some big reveals and general advancement of the overarching plot but then it kind of left you off having more questions than actual answers towards the main Mystery and that was quite frustrating.

There was also a very cliche conversation about a relationship between a supernatural being and a human that felt like I have heard a 100 times before.

So yeah overall this was still enjoyable but I felt like it was a step in quality from the previous novels in this series.
