The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton

2.0

Just confused by this book. Really interesting concept but it was executed in such an unsatisfying way.

I really enjoyed the start of this book. It was interesting and the suspense started off well. The characters and setting were intriguing from the start. But then it started to drag and then nothing new happened or was revealed and I got bored. By the end, I wondered how we’d gotten there. So many threads left open, so many weird choices. The author tried to develop character relationships but it was more just stated instead of appearing natural so I wasn’t particularly interested or attached to anyone. This one had a lot of potential for a really cool historical novel but I just left confused by the choices the author made.
