It took me a while to get use to her writing style. The internal dialogue was killing me at first. That and the dual POV of Then vs Now. When I got past that the SMUT scenes kept smacking me in the face. Reading this I realized that I like spice more than SMUT. Though the scene where homeboy gave it all was well written. đź«Ł

Now, Sloane’s grief was felt off the page and it was bad. Not only for her deceased husband but  for the lack of a decent relationship with her mother. She was so unsure of herself it was scary. I did enjoy Sloane’s relationship with the Kent family though. If you asked me, Sloane must’ve been a Pisces or a Cancer.

And Dominic, he was grieving too but it wasn’t as strong to the point where he was completely doubting himself. Sloane’s lack of direct communication at times, I feel, made him spiral. Though he was crazy as hell to think that his ex was gonna be strung on like that. If anybody asked me, I’d say Dominic is either a Leo or a Virgo. Borderline controlling and assertive, and maybe that’s why I only liked him a little. 🙄 Because it was really his sitting back and being silent that allowed so many years to pass.

However,  I feel this story could have been about 150-200 pages shorter - due to the SMUT and the extensive descriptions of everything. I Though, the story was still enjoyable - especially towards the end when everything started to make sense.

My question of “what made her make her choice back then?” was finally answered towards the end. That’s when I realized that there was so much miscommunication and that was the sole problem.

I could’ve slapped Sloane’s mama, because she treats her like a child. But that’s Sloane’s fault, idc. And I feel that Dominic and Sloane are so much alike in many ways and that’s why they work well together. Even he has some grief and parental conflict that’s looking around him.
