I Remember You by Cathleen Davitt Bell
5.0
I didn't expect to like this book but I did. It may be confusing at first, but the ending is absolutely rewarding. There is power in love.
"Are the memories we recall governed by the feelings attached to them? Is that why they stay with us? Or do we remember only what we remind ourselves of over and again as the years go by?"
Q: If you can travel back in time, which memory would you go back to? Will you change it?
I only got to read this last Nov 2021. I Remember You by Cathleen Davitt Bell is a poignant tale of love—tested with the memory of the past and the looming future of possibilities.
The human brain is so complex. There's still a lot of events that science nor medicine can't explain. The major turning point in this book is connected to that unexplained events, of how Lucas remembers and the sum of the story.
This book isn't perfect but it's one of those that left an impact to me because of the way it concludes. There's chapter of sweetness, suspense, drama, teen angst. And you'll try to figure out what's going on as you go by.
I was amazed how Juliet stays through it all, even after Lucas tells her the truth. I like that with their young age, their relationship was genuine. That they built it on a solid foundation—with friendship and trust.
I love that this book made me fall in love. How it made me feel what it means to love and be loved. That with the right person, it's one of the most wonderful things for anyone to have experienced.
I know not everyone believes in destiny, invisible strings, soulmates, and the one, but it doesn't mean it can't happen in real life. I Remember You serve me all these feels in one sitting. That it's not cliché to believe in the power of love.
I guess I'm lucky to have experienced that same kind of love right now. A plus that he supports my book addiction.
