Reading this could have been awful (it could have been a bit too soon), but I rather enjoyed this. The story of the relationship starts with the breakup and moves backward through time to the first meeting. There are some interesting perspectives on relationships in their story. What keeps you from leaving a relationship? When you have moments where an alarm goes off making you question who you’re with, why don’t you run? Good or bad, I can relate to a lot of the choices she makes in this relationship. The chapter with the therapy session was particularly relatable and eye opening. I really didn’t like Theo in the beginning, but by the end of the book, I had a more mixed feeling about him. Younger Theo might be better the older Theo. I think this was a good choice for me to read in this moment. It definitely made me think about my relationship and breakup with some refreshed perspective.
