I was in a massive fantasy slump prior to reading this book and I could not put this one down!
The world building, character arcs and details about the magic were all great for a first book but also left me excited enough to read the next book in the series.
I also found so many parallels to Harry Potter while reading this book which brought me back to a childhood of magic and kind of felt like coming home.
The trio of friends and their loyalty to one another was one of my favourite parts.
This book got especially good in the last 10 chapters and I loved that there was a twist that left me feeling just as blindsided as the MC (nice touch!)

I can't wait for the next book in the series and to dive into this magical world even more.
