Nothing But Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Khaw
4.0
Excellent novella that paints a very real dysfunctional set of friends who gather together to add drama to a wedding by holding it at a haunted mansion from the beautifully evocative Heian era of Japanese history.
The 5 principle characters are well constructed and their bitterness, rivalry and distrust brings the text to life from the first few pages.
It's a very modern take on an old plot device, and bristles with its fast pace and snappy dialogue.
Definitely worth a read.
