As this story begins with the death of the main character, I feel it is only right to use the first line of this book as the first line in my review in solidarity.

PSA: I AM BIASED. I’m a huge fan of The Untamed and Mo Dao Zu Shi, the donghua. I’ve watched both nurmerous times now and I love this series with my whole heart. Now I’ve finally decided to read the novels.

β€œπ‘«π’ π’šπ’π’– π’π’Šπ’Œπ’† π’“π’‚π’ƒπ’ƒπ’Šπ’•π’”?”

I don’t have too much to say about this besides the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wei Wuxian thinks himself a genius when it’s him who’s dense. It’s hilarious how obvious Lan Wangji is being and then Wei Wuxian always finds some other explanation for Lan Wangji’s actions.

Looking forward to continuing the series!

P.S. I would have given this 5 stars, but instead gave it 4.5 for two reasons. One: The translation. This is a common complaint you’ll see with other reviews, but it’s true. And learning that the second editions of this book were slightly fixed doesn’t help, since I’m not willing to buy the book a second time when it should’ve been right before being sold. Two: If I didn’t already know the entire story from watching the adaptations, I’m sure this would have been super confusing to read. (Again, that may have a bit to do with the translation.)

Don’t let this deter you though, I loved it!
