TW/CW: Death of a child; Drowning; Blood; War (brief mention, not an ongoing conflict)

Jonas lives his perfect life in his perfect community, but when he receives his job assignment as receiver of memories he learns the truth about the world around him. The Giver is just such an easy read. I love how the story is simple and evolves smoothly as it goes on. I used to feel the ending was too open and left too many questions, until I learned there are actually three more books to this story. I’m glad I found this book again, and even happier I found the other three books as well.
