Honestly, I think this floated on the premise alone for me because I’m a sucker for an angsty plot. Fejo’s been eagerly attempting to find a wife for years; he desperately wants someone to choose him for him and not what he can give them. Vanessa needs a way to get back to Earth, and choosing Fejo as her husband guarantees her a ride…too bad he isn’t aware of that.

I really did love the premise of this book! Fejo had so much vulnerability from his past, and I was obsessed with him - Almost to the point where I couldn’t relate to Vanessa at all because how dare her actions hurt him?! But even Vanessa grew on me. Their mutual respect and protectiveness for each other was my favorite part of this book, and the spice didn’t hurt either. Honestly, if your man isn’t installing a customizable, remote-controlled piercing down there, is he even worth it?
