I enjoyed this but plot-wise it seems very similar to what I remember of the first book. The villains are caricatures and for one of them in particular I didn't really see the point of them even being in the book. I wish this had been a spin-off set in the same world rather than a direct sequel. That said the main characters are still delightful, especially the new kid that's introduced in this book, and there are lots of funny and wonderful moments.
