Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
4.0
a solid four star read.
i must say, the ending was kind of predictable as to the re-election of president claremont, but i really liked the outcome.
however, at some parts of the story i was left confused, where are they? how tf did they get a bed in wimbledon? until i realized that they were at the palace. or in the very last scenes where i was not quite sure if they were in texas or in dc.
besides all that and considering these for my rating, i’ve come to a conclusion of four stars.
the book picks up on the issues of sexuality and politics - the fright of coming out and what coming out will have an impact on their political status (and of course the presidential election) as well as the image of the royal family in the united kingdom.
plus: i really liked and loved the characters from time to time - the plot twist of the engagement as well as the reveal of shaan being zahra’s fiancé? hit me like a truck, and i frickin’ loved it!
but also the character development of henry and alex, as well as the people all around them. the accepting and support (if we don’t talk about queen mary oops)
