What I enjoyed the most in this volume was definetly the reunion between Amon, Takizawa and Akira. It was just so emotional! We finally got to know what happend to Takizawa that made him they way he are, and the torture he endured fueled my hate even further for Dr Kano. It’s so tragic because Takizawa’s heroic act turned him not into a hero, but into a monster; no one remembers him for his last act of courage when he went after Amon, but instead they fear and hate him for what he was turned into. Attemping to save Amon cost Takizawa his humanity, and in return Amon wants nothing more than to return the favor and save Takizawa. Akira carries the guilt of watching her two comrades suffer while she remained unscathed, and her feelings for Takizawa from the academy is at conflict with the horrible deeds he has committed.

It was a little hard seeing my favorite characters fighting eachother as enemies because I didn’t know who I wanted to root for, and I think this feeling perfectly describes the theme of morality in this series because there really is no clear line between the ”good” guys and the ”bad” guys. The world is wrong and it’s cruel, and it forces you to make difficult decisions — in those situations you have to make the decision you think you can live with.

I think the QS had a very cruel approach to Akira, Amon and Takizawa,  but i also understand where their feelings came from. As academy graduates they have been ingrained with the saying that if you sympathize with a ghoul, then you are a traitor. But Takizawa and Amon were once investigators with the same beliefs, and they were two people very close with Akira. I wonder how the QS will react to “Haise’s” betrayal — will they be so quick to try to eradicate him? I don’t think so.

The ending was insane as always with Sui Ishida’s endings. How are the clowns (especially Uta) tied to all this — what do they want? The last page of Furuta leaning against his dad that he killed on the table was sick!!
