I’ve been reading a bunch of shorter books lately, mostly under 250 pages. Sometimes I end short books wanting more, but when done well they can just seem like the perfect length. Goodbye, Vitamin was one of those for me.
It’s about a 30 year old woman who moves home for the year to help take care of her father who is dealing with memory loss. In relatively short snippets, we see her relationship with her father change during the year. It explores themes of coming to terms with who your parents are as people, sibling relationships, and figuring out what ‘counts’ to you in your own life.
I loved this one. There is humour, emotional scenes, and clever writing. It left me with a lot to think about! I would definitely recommend picking this one up.
