I loved seeing Reef and Raphael's journey. Reef is an Alpha struggling with his sexuality, recovering from his trauma, and fighting his conflicted desires for an arrogant vampire that calls himself his mate.
Meanwhile Raphael has waited 300 hundred years to find his mate, and he's determined to win over the grumpy and reluctant alpha.
This was filled with emotional turmoil, battling attraction, overcoming trauma and trying to make amends for betrayals.
I really like that this explored the characters vulnerabilities and redemption.
This can be read as a fated mates M/M paranormal romance standalone, but is part of the ongoing series with interconnected characters and a high stakes plot.
