And the award for most brain dead protagonist goes to Brooke! It was genuinely painful at times reading her dumbass mental gymnastics. I can’t even remember the last time I’ve read something where the main character is so daft.

Didn’t love the writing style. McFadden tries to create tension but falls so flat. I have more tension in my neck on a daily basis (I need a massage). Everything that is said is just so literal, there’s no attempt at having anything nuanced. You’re repeatedly beaten over the head with the same glaring details.

The last chapter is also so obvious. I would have been shocked if that wasn’t shown. I’m guessing it was supposed to be shocking?

Overall kind of a stinker. It’s a quick read though so I can’t complain too much.
