Nan’s foreword resonated - living freely, without distinction between friends and romance, the constant struggle between independence and dependency.

A few of her photos resonated too. The two men on a log at the beach sticks in my head. But I don’t think I could see as clearly those ideas in her photographs as others may have. I think I needed more shots like those of her friends doing the twist - of the community, of laughter, of non-sexual, or at least, less explicitly sexual, just two person bonding
