Lazy summer weekend, eating cherries and nectarines and devouring books. Not digital files. Real books with words printed on paper and hard covers and colorful dust jackets. Delivered directly to my door at no cost. There are angels among us, and they work at the library. #spoiledrotten
"Ever wake up from a nightmare and find yourself in a worse one?"
This is similar to a Harlan Coben thriller, but slightly better.
I won't say much about the plot, as there is too much potential for spoilers. Six-year-old Jenny Kristal disappeared twelve years ago. Now she has suddenly reappeared. There are layers of secrets and lies, and you'll spend most of the book trying to figure out who is more full of manure. And who is most dangerous. And you'll probably change your mind a lot. And you'll probably be wrong. And even if you're partially right, you're still wrong. And that's what makes it so irresistibly readable.
The story has what I euphemistically call disturbing themes, so sensitive readers should proceed with caution.
