This was a strange and dreamy book lifting us gently through the death of the author's beloved partner and the history of surfing, a sport she loved.

The illustrations were beautiful and the history of surfing was simply and compellingly told. The sections that dealt with Kristen's death were incredibly moving at times but often felt a little sparse; I wonder if AJ Dungo is understandably still too much in the grip of his grief to really delve into it - which is fine, of course; we as readers have no right to that raw part of him or his relationship.

Overall a brief and beautiful glimpse into surfing and a very touching tribute to a woman by a man who clearly loved her entirely.
