The Housewives: The Real Story Behind the Real Housewives by Brian Moylan

5.0

Where are all my Real Housewives fans at?!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have been a fan of this show since the women of RHOC (Real Housewives of Orange County) were wearing bejeweled sky tops and their kids were sporting Heelys.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Author Brian Moylan (a journalist who wrote "Real Housewives Recap" for Vulture) takes us on a legendary journey through the years of plastic surgeries, flipped tables, and prosthetic legs.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He answers questions like, “Who actually pays for those girls trips” and “Does Andy reallyyy have that much power over casting?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Last year I read Amy Kaufman's “Bachelor Nation” and immediately fell in love with learning more about my favorite not-so-guilty guilty pleasure reality shows.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I also loved Andy Cohen’s books “The Andy Cohen Diaries” and “Most Talkative.” However IMO these books still left me with questions about my favorite ladies who know it’s bad karma to host those vow renewals (except if your Stephanie from RHOD because she’s basically a saint).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Brian Moylan did an AMAZING job of walking the reader (aka super fans) through the creation and making of the show, the addition of the cities, the fashion, the husbands, the drama, and of course - the fights!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I also loved that he narrated his audiobook, giving emphasis in all the right places.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you have ever been a fan of the show (even if it was only one city), you HAVE to read this book!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you author Brian Moylan and Macmillan Audio for this #giftedaudiobook in exchange for an honest review.
