Witches Vivi and Rhys are having a summer fling in Penhallow when he confesses he is betrothed. Vivi is immediately heartbroken and mad and breaks things off. Rhys is determined that being betrothed and being engaged are not the same. Vivi and her cousin mostly pretend to curse Rhys, but nine years later, he returns to Penhallow and finds his magic doesn't work right. Reunited with Vivi and finding that his warped magic has infected the town ley lines. Rhys learns about the curse and just how much he hurt Vivi. Surprise, surprise, both still have feelings for each other and they are once more drawn together as they investigate how to break a curse. Mostly a romance with a witchy backdrop.
