I’m not sure why the author would go so far out of their way to make us hate Sav, but damn did I hate her for most of this book! I get that they betrayed her with their eyes or some sh!t, but girl get a grip. What a cold-hearted menace. But I guess that’s the point?? Sad nerdy girl gets betrayed by the look in her men’s eyes so she becomes an evil girlboss who hates men. Cool cool. Anyway, the book is well written. The few characters mentioned are excellent (I’m in love with Jude), except for the stubborn FMC in my humble, silly opinion. There is a difference between not being a doormat and being a heartless, stubborn jerk. But I guess that’s also the point, she hides behind a mask, takes any excuse to hate them, because she’s scared they will eventually leave her. I get it, the author is trying to show that she’s no longer the innocent bookworm, but is still human and a coward. Totally relatable, but ngl it was hard to read her back-and-forth “should I forgive them or move on” nonsense. Also, Beck and Ash disappear for a good while. Would have loved more scenes with them. Cool storytelling for the most part. The spice was very well done and sprinkled throughout, much like the first. Although, this book does have one scene with all of them…together…if you know what I mean. We do get more yearning and tension as the guys wait for their Butterfly. I’m just glad they do finally get their HEA! I do highly recommend the first book if you’re into RH, college football romance, so you will definitely need to read this second part to get to that satisfying ending!
Tropes I noticed:
Third chance romance
Reverse harem
Billionaire romance
Mystery/thriller vibes
Single dad romance
Light football romance
Forced proximity
