Two major conflicts in this book. The first is the main character is asked to organize a “holiday festival” for the town and to have it be a Hanukah festival rather than a Christmas one to be different and hopefully bring more people and because she is Jewish she is asked (told?). Only the lady pushing this asks for Christmas aspects to be included to be “more inclusive” repeatedly and dismissive or shocked when challenged.
The other underlying issue is the main character’s relationship with her family and how their emotional abuse still impacts her and her relationships now and ultimately acknowledging that, facing that, and during the epilogue working on it.
