Magpie by Elizabeth Day
4.0
I've had Magpie on my TBR for so long and managed to pick up a copy in my local library (plus I downloaded the audiobook from the library too) as I've been so intrigued by the blurb and original cover.
Part one is written from Marisa's perspective and I enjoyed Marisa as a character throughout the book, I actually really connected with her. The other characters not so much, but the plot was well constructed and kept me guessing. Unfortunately I thought the ending was weak and too cliché which let the book down a star for me.
This book has mental health representation and also touches on infertility so please check content warnings before reading. Also worth mentioning is that this book has an unreliable narrator storyline which I know isn't everyone's cup of tea.
A solid 4-star read, I would recommend this book if you're a fan of domestic thrillers and if you enjoy audiobooks I would suggest reading it in this format as it is narrated brilliantly by Tanya Reynolds.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
