The Great Beyond by Léa Murawiec

5.0

In Manel Naher's world, one's fame or 'presence' literally keeps them alive. When Manel finds herself outshone by a singer with the same name, she has to decide whether to resort to drastic measures to keep herself alive, or flee for The Great Beyond outside the city for a new life. Murawiec does a great job driving the story through her art, imbuing it with anxiety and humour. It's not a new theme to explore but Murawiec's take is still entertaining and meaningful.
