Godsgrave suffered from a common book 2 of a trilogy problem. It is clearly merely a bridge from book one to three. The players need to get somewhere so the plot is strong-armed into a form required. There were a handful of moments that were supposed to be these shocking revelations that were just sort of obvious.
Also, and this independently lost this novel a star in my opinion, Mia's revelation that being a slave blows made me role my eyes. You seriously can't tell that a society built on slave labor is a bullshit society. That no one would pick the life of a slave if they were not forced into it needed to be experienced. You couldn't have guessed that being a slave sucks. I have no sympathy for her entitlement.
