Listened to the audio book, which had excellent narration, easy to listen to, with clear differences between characters in dialogue.

Like the title says, these stories have hope. Sometimes it's a very slender hope, and they're not all happy endings, but there is a sense that sacrifices pay off, and the day is mostly saved.
