Why Mummy Drinks by Gill Sims
3.0
I don't follow the Facebook page this is based on, though I am aware of it due to how many of my friends share from it. I downloaded it as I had seen others post about it and thought I could do with a funny read for a change. This book made laugh to start with. It was genuinely funny and I thought I was in for a real treat, but I'm afraid it all just started to get quite repetitive for me. I could relate to some of Ellen's frustrations, but this soon wore thin, as in my mind, she had a rather comfy middle-class life and I couldn't really get my head around why she moaned about it so much. The events got less and less believable too. The Christmas fiasco for instance, and the sister-in-law and her children, none of it rang true. It was possibly trying to be funny but I didn't get it. I got to 70% with this and gave up as I was starting to skim read. Ellen's character just annoyed me too much and I stopped caring about any of it, so not really for me.
