My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh

4.0

Something about this book was VERY gripping! I kept wanting to get back to it when I was reading it, and not wanting to put it down when I was.

The characters were not likable, or relatable to me, the story was not thrilling and did not intend to keep you on the edge of your seat. BUT, it was still a wonderful journey. I don't know what it is. But It got "that Thing". Could be the writing and how easily it flowed. Could be the fact that the idea is kind crazy, but was done in such a mundane and non-chalany way that it made it exciting to see.

My only problem was the ending. I was left unsatisfied, underwhelmed and I didn't know what I was supposed to take out if it. Hence the -1 star.
