Listened to this with my 5yo and it absolutely held up. It shows a few small signs of its age— Sarah’s battle with the soup and the misogyny over Papa’s wanting a boy don’t go over well. But from a book from the 50s and taking place in 1912-13, it could be much worse. The Jewish rep is unparalleled, the family is lovely and real, and the adults are shockingly well-rounded characters for a kids book. The audio left something to be desired between the narrator and the quality, but wasn’t unlistenable.
