I just re-listened to this book in a single drive from Rhode Island to Canada. Man, this book packs an extra punch when you take it all in in one gulp. I don’t know what it means about me that I found this far more powerful and heartbreaking and confusing the second time I read it. I think what makes this book stand out is that it shows just how hard it is to actually read other people. Sometimes we think we’re projecting our feelings really clearly or have a really strong understanding for what somebody else is thinking, but that’s almost never the case. These two broke my heart over and over again
