Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

Just doing a short review for this one, as I'll review the entire series when I eventually finish it.

With Crown of Midnight ending on such a cliffhanger, this book starts you off right where you want to be. Celaena has left Adarlan, and is on her way to the land of her Fae Queen aunt, hoping to find some answers about her past and who she is. What starts as a journey about embracing her heritage turns into an all-out battle, and Celaena learns more of what the King of Adarlan has really been up to, and the fearsome people he is striking deals with. With new characters coming into the story, such as Fae Prince Rowan, Celaena can still be her sassy, stubborn self while creating new allies and learning more about magic and her enemies. The timelines mixing so we can still know what is going on in Adarlan with Dorian and Chaol, this book really helped show what Celaena could become, and who the people are that are willing to help her.

I really enjoyed Celaena's character development in this installment of the series. At the beginning, she is broken, hurting, and running from who she really is, but by the end she is willing to embrace her past, her talents, and who she was born to be.

Heir of Fire definitely seems like the point in the series where you're sucked in and need to keep going - can't wait to read the next book in June!
