Stardust by Neil Gaiman
4.0
I loved listening to this -- it's one of my favorite fairytale stories from my childhood and still to this day is very beloved. I'm more familiar with the movie growing up so I was a little sad that some of the parts are different in the book (like no detailed scenes with Captain Shakespeare), though it was expected. This is a very rare opinion, but I think I like the movie more. It could be that I am biased from having grown up with it haha. I just feel like the movie had more fun adaptations with the characters and the characters felt like they had more of an impact on each other than in the book. Even Tristan and Yvaine romance at the end seems more plausible in the movie. However, it was still fun and sweet and adventurous even without the hooplah adventure that was added in the movie for cinematic reasons. The more accepted defeat of Lamia at the end of the book is a different twist that changes the outlook on her character in the end. All in all, I still enjoyed and give it a 4.0!
