Briar Rose is the only woman Oliver has ever loved. She was the girl he spent his summers with, but when they were 18, he broke her heart. Now, many years later, they run into each other again. Briar has an accident and finds herself with amnesia, transported to a time when they were in love. Now, Oliver finds himself caring for Briar and accidentally getting engaged. When her memory comes back, she is steaming mad and knows she will stop at nothing to get back at him for all the pain. But somewhere in their antics, they begin to remember the love they had for each other. Oliver is hiding some things that could rip them apart and never give them happiness. Is this something the two can overcome?
Briar was a perfect match for Oliver. She saw his vulnerabilities and how much he felt and wanted to do for everyone and gave him the power to look out for himself. Briar’s story was heartbreaking. Her parents were truly terrible, and she felt discarded by everyone, including Oliver. Watching her understand what happened that fateful summer had me cheering for both of them.
This book was wonderful. Oliver and Briar had me laughing and crying with their story. There was so much that came in their relationship, including their break-up, but they were meant to be.
The amnesia trope is not typically a favourite of mine, but I didn’t think it played into the story tons and was a small part of it. It was the thing that was a catalyst for Oliver and Briar to begin talking and being more vulnerable with each other.
This was a great story, and I fell in love with both Oliver and Briar. If you love a second chance romance with two people who have broken hearts, this is the book for you! Thank you to the authors and Give Me Books Promotions for a copy of this book! All opinions are 100% mine.
