Cowboy Protection by Jodi Payne, B.A. Tortuga
4.0
Another wonderful cowboy romance from Jodi and BA, my favourite cowboy authors. This time we have two very different men start out occasionally butting heads at work and it's not until Mackey really needs some help that Sid steps up and takes them in a while new direction.
I really like how it doesn't just start as and instant friendship/romance. There are a couple or hurdles to get over first, the main one being Mackey's injury. He's a man clearly loved by his rodeo family and it's heartwarming how they all pull together, but also bicker just like families do. Sid is new to the rodeo world but soon learns just how tough, and crazy, these guys are. When they travel to Mackey's place after the season has finished, and for Mackey to recoup, they have the chance to slow down the crazy pace they've been moving at, finally connect just the two of them and allow the low level chemistry to develop into so much more.
It starts out as a slow burn but once they give into to what they both want, they're soon crazy for more from each other and not just physically. Mackey has always wanted his forever person and Sid may just be that guy, taking him, scars and all.
Another great story from these two amazing writers. I really felt like I was in the arena during those tense moments of rodeo and then enjoying the beauty of Mackey's home surrounded by snow and wildlife. Entertaining moments, one or two that have you holding your breath and found family that really keeps the guys on their toes. I'm hoping each of them get their HEA.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
