Content Warnings
I enjoyed this book so much and I feel like its correctly marketed for fans of Becky Chambers. That sets up my expectations for the plot to be character-driven, focusing on the dynamics of the characters. They had so much dysfunction in a group and I initially thought that mental health isn't a factor they weigh in for candidate selection because... I mean, I know the kids know how to cheat to get there but they weren't acting very maturely for life and death situations. I like the exploration of destiny and fate, but I feel like the story is cut short to shy away from the resolution she has to make.
