I kinda loved this one! I enjoyed reading Clegg’s point of view most, but I think alternating to Miranda’s perspective was very smart and made the ending even more impactful.
While the content is considerably tamer than most horror I’ve read, The Collector is effective in its simplicity. There are layers beyond horror-it has interesting commentary around sexism, politics, and classism-but the thought process of the antagonist is what stood out for me.
So many little phrases reminded me of something I’ve seen from true crime interviews. is creepy, yet oddly fascinating. It gives a realistic view into the mind of a killer and that’s both more and less disturbing than one might think.
