So I finally read Cemetery Boys!! I feel like everyone loves this book. I've never seen a single bad review of it, and I now totally understand why. This book is wonderful!! It's such a fun, funny, and joyful read, but it's also sad and heartbreaking at times, which made me love it even more.
There are so many things that I love in Cemetery Boys. The representation, the fantasy elements, the romance, the mystery elements, but I think what makes it stand out the most is the characters. Yadriel and Maritza are both amazing, and I love them, but Julian stole my heart. I know he's pretty much everyone's favorite character, and it makes sense because he’s wonderful, and I would die for him.
It's so important that a book like this one exists, with a trans character being a hero and being the main character. And it's so great to see the beautiful Latinx culture, history, and mythology in a YA fantasy!!
I’m going to keep this review on the shorter side because I pretty much loved everything about it, and I can't think of a single thing I've disliked about it. So if you haven't read Cemetery Boys yet, I really recommend it!!
