The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud

5.0

An unexpected masterpiece

I thought I was going into a 3 star read. Damn, I was badly mistaken! This book was highly entertaining and characters were all so lovable and perfect.

True, it's a fantasy world and it's not completely original but Jonathan Stroud pulled this one enough to have its own stand.

You go in the story narrated by Lucy, a ghost-buster ( this is not the word they used, they are agents) who goes through various adventures like as mentioned in the title the case of Screaming Staircase. This book isn't a horror book but at some points won't fail to give you chills.

The writing is on point. I was practically inside the world and had fear and panic running through my veins and could hear the sound of blood dropping ( oh yes ).

The ending was icing on the cake. The book had been perfect even without a touch. I like it, the author was you don't HAVE to the sequel but who I am kidding, you have to read the sequel. So, Lucy has powers like those legendary ghost busters? I am going in for the second one too !
